Need help with these options?

Pixels are the tiny dots in an image. Keep proportions checked to change width and height together without stretching.

JPG is common for photos. PNG keeps transparent backgrounds and sharp screenshots. WebP is useful for smaller website images.

A few words, made simple

Pixels and resolution
Pixels are the tiny dots that make an image. Width × height tells you how many dots it contains.
Keep proportions
Changes width and height together so people and objects do not look stretched.
Size preset
Fits the entire image within a box. It does not crop it to fill the box.
DPI
Dots per inch describes print density. This tool changes pixel dimensions, not a custom DPI setting.
Output format
JPG is common for photos; PNG and WebP can preserve transparency.
Good to know

Presets fit the entire image within a bounding box without cropping. A 1200 × 630 preset does not force that aspect ratio. Enlarging an image adds pixels but cannot recover missing detail. Each output is limited to 16 megapixels and 8192 pixels per side.

Animated images become a single still image. Re-encoding can change colors and image quality. Compression can produce a larger file; compare before downloading.

Frequently asked questions

Does a bigger image become clearer?

No. Enlarging adds pixels but cannot bring back missing detail.

Is resizing the same as compressing?

No. Resizing changes width and height. Compression targets storage size; use the compressor if that is your main goal.

What if my form needs an exact square?

Unlock proportions to force exact dimensions, which may stretch the image. This tool does not crop; prepare a square source if stretching is unsuitable.

Will resizing crop my image?

No. The image is resized as a whole. Presets preserve proportions and fit inside the selected dimensions.

Can I set an exact width and height?

Yes. Unlock proportions to set both independently. This stretches the image if the aspect ratio changes.
